Angels

Sam Fogg Galerie presents a rare pair of Renaissance Angels. Sensuous, vibrant. colours. Artist Michiel Coxcie 1499-1592. It is known that Michiel Coxcie was working in Brussels circa 1520. It would seem that he then went to Rome  where it is thought that  he worked with the great Masters, 1530-1539 Influenced by Da Vinci, & Raphael, & forming part of Michaelangelo’s inner circle. Sam Fogg Galerie 15 Clifford Street, Mayfair, showing at Frieze Masters, London 15/19 Oct 2014.

Collector

Helly Nahmad Gallery, 2 Cork Street presents The Collector Installation at Frieze Masters. & Wows.  The large exhibit drew an immense crowd of people. It is an installation of an imaginary apartment set in Paris in 1968. Essentially the result of years of collecting, a remarkable journey of love. This evocative series of rooms strikes a resonance of our Artist’s Atelier where Marc & I lived so joyfully from 1976, near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris surrounded by our pictures, posters, collages, magazines, newspaper cuttings & bouquets of flowers, overlooking a garden with fig trees.atelier1

COOP

The CO-OP Bank launched a new TV AD Campaign October 1st 2014. The ad is very clever & edgy.  It also features a “tattoo””Ethics & Values”, on, presumably, a man’s back.… The Ad has had lots of comment in the press. It is snazzy visuals, in modern greys, a sophisticated “Borgen” style orchestration  theme . U r captivated by the AD’s storyline

LONDON - London is having a German art moment this autumn – Anslem Kiefer is already drawing in the crowds at the Royal Academy, Alibis: Sigmar Polke 1963–2010 opens at Tate Modern on 9 October, while the British Museum’s new show Germany Memories of a Nation is currently the subject of a series on BBC Radio 4 and is open from 16 October. Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening and Day auctions on 17–18 October also feature a range of works by artists from Germany including Andreas Gursky, Gerhard Richter, Neo Rauch, Georg Baselitz, Joseph Beuys, Candida Höfer and Albert Oehlen. Five key works, however, come from the enfant-terrible of German art, Martin Kippenberger, led by his 1992 self-portrait, Ohne Titel (Meine Lügen Sind Ehrlich). This colossal work is a masterpiece of the artist’s acclaimed body of self-images in which Kippenberger emulates and undoes the romantic ideal of the artist as heroic genius. At once combining an echo of Picasso’s cubist-African period with the iconic images of the half-nude twentieth-century master himself, Kippenberger’s painting looks to classical archetypes, no doubt inspired by the Greek island of Syros on which the work was created. The result is a conceptually layered and dense pictorial invention that is replete with art historical allusion and cultivated artist-mythology. Four more works, Untitled (Peter), Peter-Series: Studierende Suchen Zimmer!, Krieg Böse, and Untitled, will be offered across the Contemporary Day and Evening sales.
