Valeria Bruni Tedeschi stars in Il Capitale Umano, Smooth, sophisticated Italian thriller, Human Capital 2014. Set in post Berlusconi Northern Italy.

A wintry northern Italy is the setting for an anguishing thriller featuring Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Valeria Golino, Fabrizio Bentivoglio and Fabrizio Gifune Based on Stephen Amidon’s novel set in moneyed Connecticut, Human Capital smoothly relocates to Italy’s wealthy north in an engrossing if anxiety-provoking tale about two families whose destinies are tied together by a road accident. Though director Paolo Virzi (who is also the director of the Turin Film Festival) is best known for intelligent comedies like his award-winning The First Beautiful Thing, there is very little to laugh about in this anguishing thriller set in a downward-spiraling economy. A top-flight cast gives the character-driven drama depth and conviction and the Italo-French coprod has gotten off to a strong start locally, despite its underlying grimness. It will come out in France next month and it should be on festival radar. RECOMMENDED Turin Film Festival: Paolo Virzi to Return as Artistic Director Rotterdam 2014: First Five Films Picked for Competition The term “human capital” is legalese that designates an accident victim’s net worth in compensation claims. Here it aptly defines the Bernaschi and Ossola families, the first elegant capitalists and the second struggling middle-classers. Dino Ossola (Fabrizio Bentivoglio, sporting a northern accent and impossibly bad hair) is an embarrassingly gauche social climber who mortgages the house to buy into the Bernaschi family hedge fund, while his wife Roberta (Valeria Golino) is pregnant with twins. Serena (Matilde Gioli), his daughter by a first marriage, attends the same swanky prep school as the Bernaschi’s lunkish son Massimiliano (Guglielmo Pinelli) and the two are dating. Dino's eyes are glued to the illusion of wealth as pure happiness.

Scintillating Italian film, Directed by Italian Roberto Ando, adapted from his 2012 book, “Il Trono Vuoto”, “The Empty Throne”, which won the “Premio Campiello Opera Prima” prize. The book gave rise to much discussion in Italy when it was published with a famous article in Panorama, the Italian news magazine. “Viva La Liberta” was released in Italy 14th February 2014, just before the recent elections. “Viva La Liberta” had its UK Premiere last nite at the Institut Francais, Cine Lumiere,London in conjunction with Film Italia. “Viva La Liberta” stars Toni Servillo (star of 2014 Oscar winner “Great Beauty”) Valerio Mastandrea, & Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. The audience appreciated a witty & sophisticated film. A political Italian farce. A film in the best tradition of Italy’s “Commedia dell’Arte”. A divine story of political apocalypse so hilarious & tragic, in a more profound degree. A fictionalised life of an imaginary Politician in Italy. A snapshot homage to the legendary Federico Fellini is included in the film, when Fellini voiced his feelings about Berlusconi wanting Films to be interrupted by Ads on TV. Roberto Ando mentioned that when we re look at Fellini’s work we realise that his work was profoundly Political. Roberto Ando feels that the unconscious desire to destroy Italian film production has been thwarted, despite Cinecitta production facilities being cut back. This profoundly Italian & elegant, extremely funny, brilliantly acted film, somehow reminds us of the pleasure in sheer artistic intensity of the 1970’s cult films Francesco Rosi’s 1972″L’Affaire Mattei” with amazing Gian Maria Volonte, & the amusing stories told by French cineaste Claude Sautet’s 1970 films with Romy Schneider & Yves Montand. Holly-Anne, better known as COLLAGISM, is someone else who’s barely stood still this summer with shows and street art across New York, all hot on the heels of her collaboratrion with Shuby at Scream in July. To announce her return to London she’s just left her mark in the East End in the form of another arresting paste-up at the corner of Redchurch and Ebor Street. This one features her work, Flawless, from collections in New York, Beijing, Madrid, Athens and London. We hope this great street-paste will last the weekend but suggest you make a move now if you want to see it in the flesh. Come on London, let’s see you on scene with pictures please and give a shout to #screamforart #collagism – happy hunting!

Cheval Turc. ANTOINE LOUIS BARYE 1796 – 1875 Born in Paris, Barye began his career as a goldsmith, like many sculptors of the Romantic Period. In 1818 he was admitted to the École des Beaux Arts. But it was not until 1823, while working for Fauconnier, the goldsmith, that he discovered his true predilection from watching the animals in the Jardin des Plantes (the Paris Zoo).  He was made Professor of Drawings at the Museum of Natural History in 1854, and was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1868. Ferrari 250 SWB Bertone. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. 1962. MONTEREY CALIFORNIA AUCTIONS AUGUST 15th 16th 2015. CLASSIC HORSEPOWER of another kind

F

1962 Ferrari 250 SWB Berlinetta Speciale by Bertone Presale estimate: $14,000,000 – $16,000,000 Hagerty Price Guide: N/A The styling is a bit “love it or hate it,” but as a 250 GT SWB with a one-off body designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, and as a car that was the brainchild of Nuccio Bertone himself, the value and history are certainly there. The nose of the Bertone SWB was given the “sharknose” treatment reminiscent of the Ferrari Formula One cars that had just won the world championship, and the interior was more luxuriously appointed than the standard car. It has been in a private collection for the last 35 years, so this is a singular opportunity for a collector to acquire one of the most distinctive coach built Ferraris of them all. Coach builders Bertone & Pinin farina were great competitors of the post war era. Pinin Farina deigned many Ferraris for Marinello, but this 250 SWB was initially commissioned  by Bertone for himself, choosing the young designer Giorgeto Giugiaro. Bertone became famous with the cars he designed for Fiat. Bertone also was a competitor in the famous races of the period such as the legendary Mille Miglia.  Photo Brian Henniker.  Info With thanks courtesy Gooding & Company’s 2015 Pebble Beach Auction. . Hot ticket of the week invitation to the Prince Aga Khan’s Bonneval Stud Farm, 13th August 2015.

The Aga Khan Studs in France now cover over 1330 acres of finest Normandy pasture, 265 of which belong to the Haras de Bonneval, where the stallion station is located and visiting mares are boarded. Bonneval is modern in design, having been purposely-built in the 1970s. The unusual semi-circular shape of the main yard was chosen as an architectural design to ensure that every box for mares and foals would receive the maximum sun exposure. Bonneval lay dormant in the 1990’s before being re-opened by the Aga Khan under the management of Georges Rimaud, when the new administration offices for the Aga Khan’s French bloodstock activity were built on top of a hill overlooking the stud. The fully equipped stallion unit currently houses Sinndar, Siyouni and Makfi and was re-furbished when Bonneval re-opened in 2000, in order to accommodate high class stallions and welcome visiting mares in the best possible conditions.

Breeders' Cup hero Karakontie is set to make his belated return to action in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on August 16. The Jonathan Pease-trained colt has not been seen in competitive action since landing the Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita last November, but is closing in on a comeback, with connections keen to head back to America later in the year. Alan Cooper, racing manager for his owners, the Niarchos family, said: "Karakontie did a nice piece of work on the racecourse at Chantilly on Monday. "As long as we have a trouble-free run between now and August 16, the plan is for him to make his reappearance in the Jacques le Marois. "It will be exciting to see him back on the racecourse. Having not been seen since November, I'm sure there will be some rustiness there, but we will see. "The main aim is to go back for the Breeders' Cup Mile. Hommage a Jean Luc Lagardere and his legacy to the French Breeding & horse racing industry that Roland de Longevialle feels continues thru Prince Aga Khan’s continuing dedication to the industry. The Aga Khan took over the Lagardere stud farms in 2005.

Muhaarar ‘s win in Deauville last week end in the LARC Prix Maurice  de Gheest led to an encounter with Roland de Longevialle. A series of reminiscences led us to discuss that in the Breeding family of MUHAARAR  were horses bred by JEAN LUC LAGARDERE, for whom Roland  de LONGEVIALLE was the racing manager for 20 years. LINAMIX – LUNADIX originated in the Lagardere Haras. .LINAMIX. out of MENDEZ & LUNADIX, thru BRETON., LINAMIX winner of  the GRAND CRITERIUM .The Poule d’Essai des Poulains. Continues great victories, however, it is at the Jean Luc LAGARDERE Stud Farm that LINAMIX passes on the great talents., heading the Stallion stakes in 1998 & 2004. . His issue become winners of the  great Group 1 races, winning 13 Prizes.. Including the mythic  Prix de L’Arc de Tiomphe. won by SAGAMIX.  Gran Premio deal Jockey-Club, Premio Roma & 2nd Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe with Cherry Mix.        Prix Royal Oak was won twice by by AMILYNX. Grand Prix de Paris was won by Slickly, who also won Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.  The Premio Vittorio di Capa also twice Prix Jacques Le Marois was won  by Miss Satamixa . .2nd in the Ascot Gold Cup was Reefscape who also won the Prix du Cadran…Winner of the Poule d’Essai & Prix Jacques Marois was Vahorimix. Lagardere’s choice of trainers were the young Andre Fabre & JC.Rouget after Francois Boutin.  Roland de Longevialle ran the stud farms of Jean Luc Lagardere, le Haras du Val Henry, and later on,  the Haras d’Ouilly, that had at one time belonged to the famous Dupre family of  Breeders. Jean Luc Lagaredere was one of France’s most dynamic & well known business personalities with interests in France’s important Defence industry, including Matra. 2 years after his untimely death,in 2003, Jean Luc Lagardere’s important Stud farm was sold to the Aga Khan. Roland de Longevialle signing the transfer in 2005  with Georges Rimaud the racing manager for the Aga Khan. FOLLOW TREVE, mythic race horse becomes overnight star of the social media. Madame Christiane Head-Maarek successful French race horse trainer becomes a popular sports icon as the French public take courageous race horse TREVE to their hearts …..

From the Prix de Diane Longines 2013, where I smashed the record time by 2 seconds, to the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October of the same year, I remained unbeaten! I have outrun the very best fillies of my generation in the Prix de Diane Longines, my elders in the Prix Vermeille, and the world’s greatest thoroughbreds in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In 2014, I had a few health problems: a bad back which took a while to cure. I lost my unbeaten status in three races: the Prix Ganay, against the century’s greatest gelding Cirrus des Aigles, the Prince of Wales's Stakes, in which I set a new record time despite finishing third, and the Prix Vermeille, which was the first race I ran after recovering from my bad back. On the first Sunday in October, I pulverised the top-quality opposition in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, achieving a double victory in the race, something which had not been done since 1978! In 2015, I am attempting an historic feat: to win three consecutive Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe titles, and thus be crowned the best thoroughbred of all time! Support me in my challenge, and together we can make history!
Share my exploit with as many people as you can, Like and Tweet as much as possible! Make my dream a reality and we can create the largest community of supporters ever to come together for such a challenge! Next target: At 40,000 Likes, i open my fan club !

The  Head Family’s World renowned stud farm Le Quesnay is just a few kms away. Surrounded by the fluid, rippling dark shapes moving at seemingly electric speed in the golden early morning,  the image is surreal,  as strings of the race horses work out,  the hooves quietly pound in unison & flow past us as we chat.                                                                                                              Christiane  Head-Maarek, is one of France’s most successful race horse trainers, & she speaks to me of a phenomenon, that has recently taken her by surprise. Her star race horse, TREVE, has become a Social Media Star with a dedicated following who also attend the races for the sheer pleasure of seeing their champion  TREVE compete, bringing new race goers to the Sport.  TREVE’s new website hashtag www. TREVE, Winner again of the 2014 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, achieving a double victory in the race, something which had not been done since 1978!    The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is a heroic race to win, up against the World’s best race horses  & jockeys.                                                                                In 2015,  Treve is attempting an historic feat: to win three consecutive Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe titles, and thus be crowned the best thoroughbred of all time !
Christiane Head-Maarek reflects on her future plans. Coming up immediately is the auction of her star Yearling a full sister of TREVE, out of TREVISE and MOTIVATOR, the brilliant race horse well known to racegoers in England.  The Yearling, LOT 176, will be auctioned during the Deauville Arqana Yearling sales in August 2015.
