Wesley Ward

Wesley Ward, American Trainer of Royal Ascot star Lady Aurelia, greets Racing Post colleague Scott Burton at Deauville Touques race course today.

Wesley seemed relaxed & confident & is apparently very satisfied that Lady Aurelia has settled in at Deauville after  the long trip across the Atlantic. The filly, daughter of Scat Daddy worked out on the grass on thursday which she really took to. There will be 4 horses, including “Tis Marvellous “,  racing against the winner of the Royal Ascot Queen Mary Stakes . Italian jockey Rispoli has been riding out on Lady Aurelia in the mornings after her arrival from USA, a second journey across the Atlantic in 2 months, quite a feat. Wesley Ward is pleased with the filly’s progress. The ground get softer as the weather  in Deauville showery. Jockey Frankie Dettori will be riding again  for the big Gr.1 race. Anyone who was at Royal Ascot June 15th will remember the roar of the crowd and the stunning 7 furlong advance of Lady Aurelia.

There has been a generation of international investors in the breeding of race horses and the increased prize money in  the  races & the investment in splendid race course facilities around the World.

The Arab investment in the race horse industry has been pivotal, so has the dedication of the late Magnate Jean Luc Lagardere, and His Highness the Prince Aga Khan.

At the death of Jean Luc Lagerdere his stud farms and race horses were bought by the Prince Aga Khan, whose Manager in France is the well known figure of M.Georges  Rimaud.

The French breeding industry have invested in stallions to develop the breeding lines, including  Intello, Dabirsim Penny’s Picnic. & Style Vendome.  Recently the Aga Khan’s stud brought over  a famous stallion from Australia for 2 seasons.  Mares come to France from all over Europe to have their foals in France. Fiscal advantages are important in the European breeding industry with a difference between charges in Italy/France/England/Ireland. The mares that have yearlings this year include Siyouni, Kendargent, Le Havre  which launches a new dynamic for the breeding of good race horses in France and for racing in Europe.  France Galop that organises a lot of the horse racing in France is very supportive of the horse breeding industry. Madame Christiane Head-Maarek famous French Trainer & owner of the famous Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Champion Treve, is President of the Association of Entaineurs de Galop.

The French racing industry has clutch of World renowned Trainers, including the legendary Monsieur Andre Fabre, M.Jean-Claude Rouget, M. de Royer Dupre. One of the late Queen Mother’s trainers was Frenchman M. Francois Doumen.

France Galop that is responsible for the organisation of horse racing in France has a new, dynamic  Director General who worked for 10 years at Aqana, Olivier Delloye. An important objective on his agenda will be the successful opening of the new Longchamps Grandstand in time for the Prix de l’Arc de Triumphe in October 2017.

France Galop, Olivier Delloye recently appointed Director General, before the re-opening of Longchamp race course in Paris.

Deep Impact Japanese Phenomenon.

By the time the Europeans realised it the Japanese horse racing  phenomenon  Deep Impact was already well established in Japanese horse breeding.

Akihiro won tuesday at Deauville, Prix de Crevecoeur. Owned and bred by the Freres Wertheimer (owners of Chanel). Trained by Andre Fabre. Hippodrome de Deauville racing organised by France Galop.

French breeders are working hard to improve the bloodlines of their race horses.

Akihiro is a son of Deep Impact, a top Japanese stallion, as was his father Sunday Silence. The Wertheimer invest strongly in their horse breeding venture, to establish new promising blood lines, the Japanese enterprise may prove very fruitful. The Prince Aga Khan also invests in developing new blood lines at his various studs, including bringing over Australian stallions & investing in the Lagardere string..  The Wertheimer  have  established an impressive pool of mares including the champion, Goldikova.

Also issue of this  Deep Impact bloodline, 5 year old A Shin Hikari ran in May 2016 at Chantilly in the Gr.1  Prix d’Ispahan, winning impressively against a strong field of French race horses.

This 5 year old horse, A Shin Hikari, actually rated 123, is considered to be the best in her age group in the World at the moment !

9 horses issue of Deep Impact have run in France. 7 of these horse have won so far:-2 have won Group1 races Beauty Parlour  (headlining the Goffs Wildenstein dispersal) & A Shin Hikari. Another of these horses won a Group2, Kizuna. Another won a Group3 Aquamarine. Finally Barocci won a Listed race

Deep Impacts products are particularly successful so far.

The Japanese would love to win one of the World’s most prestigious races, the mythical Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

This year  8  Japanese horses signed up to race in the Prix de l’Arc,   are issue of Deep Impact including Japanese Derby winner, Makahiki.

Just before leaving in his gleaming black Bentley, a relaxed Monsieur Andre Fabre, the immensely successful trainer,  when asked for a comment, today, as he left the Deauville Hippodrome,  about the Goffs dispersal of the prestigious Wildenstein string of race horses, reminded us that there was some consolation with the Diane Wildenstein horses.

A Director of Ballymore Thoroughbred limited is in fact Diane Wildenstein.Ballymore’s are not part of the Goffs dispersal arrangement of the very important  Wildenstein string of top race horses. Diane Wildenstein is the daughter of the late Alec Wildenstein, the former  art dealer. The Wildenstein Art Empire’s complex financial affairs are under investigation, it has been reported. Goffs Secure The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal…The news has been officially confirmed. Extract enclosed from the Goffs Press Release, courtesy & with thanks Goffs

Goffs has been appointed as the exclusive Auction House to handle The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal. The world class draft of 110 horses features mares (27), foals (20), yearlings (19), and horses in training (44). The dispersal will be handled by The Castlebridge Consignment and takes place during the Goffs Orby and November Sales, with the yearlings and horses in training being offered at the end of the second day of the Orby Sale in an exclusive stand-alone section, whilst the mares and foals will be offered at the November Foal and Breeding Stock Sale.

This is a rare opportunity to tap into the bloodlines belonging to one of Europe’s most successful breeders. French 1000 Guineas winner and Oaks runner up Beauty Parlour (pictured) headlines a spectacular group of broodmares. Beauty Parlour will be sold in foal to Kingman whilst her 2015 colt by Dubawi is surely one of the standout yearlings in Europe this year with her Dansili filly foal another obvious highlight in November. Beauty Parlour’s half-sister, the winning Invincible Spirit filly Blue Kimono will also be offered for sale at Goffs and is in foal to Australia.

The Group 2 winning Sadler’s Wells sister to Peintre Celebre, Peinture Rare, in foal to Dansili is another high class mare bound for Goffs while her yearling colt by Oasis Dream is also among the dispersal. The Peintre Celebre mare Andromeda Galaxy, a Listed-winning granddaughter of Albertine, would fit nicely in any broodmare band, as would her Listed-placed sister Altamira, whose daughter Akatea ran second in last year’s Prix du Moulin.

Other breeding stock highlights include the Stakes placed Galateia out of the Classic placed Gagnoa who is a three-parts to Derby winner Pour Moi, while the Stakes placed Galileo mare Amerique, in foal to Pivotal, is out of the Group 1 winner and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner up Aquarelliste. Listed winner and Group 1 performer Adventure Seeker from the family of the great All Along, in foal to Siyouni, is another with huge international appeal, while the Group 2 winner mare Pacific Rim will be offered in foal to Zoffany.

The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal features blue blooded yearlings and foals with a sire profile that includes Dansili, Dark Angel, Dubawi, Giant’s Causeway, Invincible Spirit, Le Havre, Lope De Vega, Oasis Dream, Pivotal, Shamardal, Teofilo and many others.

The draft of 44 horses in training includes the Listed winner and Group 2 placed Smart Strike filly Lady Of Kyushi, the winner and Group placed Dalakhani filly Asterina, and the winning Giant’s Causeway colt Andrea Mantegna as well as several other winning three and four year olds and a quality draft of 26 juveniles.

Announcing the details of The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal represents the most exciting collection of horses to be offered anywhere in the world this year and it is a real privilege for Goffs to be appointed the auction house of choice to handle the sale that looks set to draw every major international bloodstock buyer to Goffs in 2016. In my 34 years in the business there are a handful of names that you associate with the very best – Robert Sangster, HH The Aga Khan, Khalid Abdulla, the Maktoums, Coolmore, the Niarchos family for example, and the Wildenstein name is certainly amongst their number.
