Frankie Dettori rode Golden Horn to a breathtaking victory in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp Sunday 4th October, denying Treve a record third win. She confirmed that the horse is now likely headed for retirement.Golden Horn — will be retired to stud next year, but owner Anthony Oppenheimer may target the Breeders’ Cup or the Champion Stakes at Ascot for a finale. “He was magnificently ridden and has just a wonderful trainer in John Gosden,” he said. If Golden Horn was to contest the Breeders Cup Classic at Keeneland in the United States on October 31 racing against American Pharaoh, the winner of Triple Crown. France Galop has confirmed that the 2016 Quatar Arc will now be run at Chantilly before the race returns to the newly redeveloped Longchamp in 2017. The race is the richest run on turf anywhere in the world, and second only to the Dubai World Cup, which takes place on the synthetic surface Tapeta.
